I saw Cabin in the Woods on Sunday. While I am not a fan of horror movies and it did not serve to make me a fan, nor was it supposed to, I absolutely loved it. Typical Joss in that equally horrifying and hilarious script. Also Fran Kranz!

ok not that many spoilers but the board with all the creatures? ANGRY MOLESTING TREES!!! And then they popped out of the elevator and I WAS HAPPY. Also the unicorn killing was hilarious but then I said "But it doesn't shoot rainbows out of its ass" and the people behind us chuckled. There weren't very many people in the theater with us but there were points where we were all L O L ing in a loud and ridiculous manner. Especially at the Merman at the end.

Good times.

Am currently reading a book written by William Shatner about Star Trek conventions. Don't laugh, man, it's really good. I took it to work with me the other night, not thinking that I also happened to be wearing my Millenterprise Falcon tshirt and reading a book with Shatner's face on the cover. Felt like a huge dork.

The book's really good though, it talks about how Shatner didn't really understand conventions and why people go year after year, so he kind of went undercover in costume and asked(harassed) other con-goers for info. It talks about the very first Star Trek convention which, ngl, I got all teary-eyed reading about. It also mentions the first convention I ever went to, one of the 25 years of Trek/ Is Kirk really dead? cons that happened right after Star Trek Generations came out. And look, I was four, my parents dragged me to it and several more conventions before I actually GOT why it was so fun, I'll admit freely too, but it's really nice to read about why the celebrities go year after year, too, and it's not all for money (tho Bill freely admits it was at first.) Basically, I wish I could shove this book in the face of everyone's who's ever given me the stink eye when I've told them how many cons I've been to, Supernatural, Star Trek or otherwise.(i don't think I've been to any otherwise?) Then maybe they would understand.

Going to see The Hunger Games in a couple hours for a third time, with my mother. Should be interesting, as I'm sure she'll be asking me questions THE WHOLE TIME. I'll have to refrain from saying "bitch you read the damn book you figure it out." LOL. But seriously my mom is THE WORST person to go see an action movie with. Or any movie, really.

Firstly, let me just thank [livejournal.com profile] dawnintheforest for the bajillionth time for allowing me to stay with her and putting up with me. I'm so glad to have met you, luv.

I'm always torn whether to use real names or user names when making things like this, but I'll stick with the usernames, I suppose.

Apologizing ahead of time because I do not have a decent camera anymore as mine is rather aged, so a lot of my pics are through my phone, which, while not a bad quality camera phone, can only do so much. So I don't have many pictures and the ones I do are only so-so.

There's about two dozen entries in my LJ before this, starting from 2002, but they're all transferred over from the Deadjournal I kept at the time. They all pretty emo and mostly start with "Today *insert item/action here* sucked" and end with "bye," and a good portion are about marching band. This is the first official entry of my livejournal, which I got because Kayla and Katie had (and still do). At first I was unwilling to give up DJ, but of course, LJ sucked me in because people were actually USING it, and I deleted my DJ, but decided to keep the entries, annoying and pathetic as they all sound.

In other news:

I'm debating on whether or not to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] startrekbigbang. There's no way I could write something (since we all saw how well that worked out for SPN Big Bang and I HAD an idea then), but I'd like to make some art. Except that I don't think I'm a very good artist. So...uhm...decide for me! Please?

Also, I've been debating about posting some original fiction for y'all to read and comment on to boost my ego since I can't seem to finish (or even start) any of the ideas I have bouncing around in my head anymore. Would anyone even be interested in reading them?

Edit: Also, I suck at replying to comments. I'm sorry! I do read them, it's just most of the time I don't really have anything to reply with, or even if I do, I just...don't. :( But I do appreciate everyone's comments. I also suck at giving comments for the same "i don't have anything to add/say" reason, and I don't like being the person who always comments with a "<3" or "*hugs*" all the time, although sometimes those are what's really needed. /ramble

"Listless" is the perfect way to describe how I feel about life right now.

To boldly go indeed. Excuse me while I still flail over in the corner like the ginormous fangirl I am. I saw it twice. Yesterday. Just yesterday. I'm seeing it once more next week, and I honestly could see again after that. Especially since I didn't pay the first two times, lol.

I meant to make this post last night after my back-to-back viewings, but I got caught up leveling my shiny new FFXI character, and was tired by the time I got home.

Something to understand about me. I've been a Star Trek fan since before I was born, i.e. it's in my blood, since my mom's been a huge fan since forever. I was never outspoken about it, I'm not one of those Trekkie's that's like "OMG THEY'RE DOIN IT WRONG CUZ..." or whatever. Basically, I didn't publicize my love of Star Trek because I'm mildly embarrassed by it. That and it's said you can't be a Star Trek fan and still be a Star Wars fan, and I am. But I'm shouting from the rooftops now.

I've been to conventions. Probably a dozen. Granted, I was a lot younger and don't remember them well, but my mom did give me the option to stay home and I chose not to. I met William Shatner when I was 4, at probably one of his last con appearances. I don't remember anything about it, but I have the picture. I remember seeing George Takei twice and being impressed by how deep his voice was when he said the trademark "OH MY." The memory that stands out most is of Jimmy Doohan, though, a few years before he stopped going to cons and then died not long after. He said the word "funky" then stopped and said "I sure hope I put an 'n' in that word, right?" And as a child who was told not to swear, that made my day.

Anyway. Leonard Nimoy was the only member of TOS that I never got to meet, and I'm sad. Because he fucking rocks. As does this movie. So anyway, enough about me. I'm gonna go on and on about how awesome this movie is now. live long and fucking prosper indeed )

This Chris Pine fellow.

I know he was in Princess Diaries 2, but I don't think I'll rewatch it again just for him, bleh. BUT HES SO AMAZING. One, his eyes are like the prettiest shade of blue. Two, he can act. Three, he can act like a cocky, younger James T Kirk who had some of the best lines of dialogue in the movie. Four, did I mention he's PRETTY. I've already run off and joined like 4 LJ comms because of this movie. Sigh.

And now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna run off and watch The Wrath of Khan now, to revel in the best days of Kirk and Spock's friendship.

I need a better icon and I'm looking for a header. But right now this icon'll do.
