there'll be peace when you are done...or something.

What is that feeling when you're driving away from people and they recede on the plain till you see their specks dispersing? — it's the too-huge world vaulting us, and it's good-by. But we lean forward to the next crazy venture beneath the skies.
ON THE ROAD ~ JACK KEROUAC

I think I shall start very post I ever make about Supernatural with On the Road quotes now. lol. I may have squealed and flailed when I heard the impala's first owner was a traveling bible salesman named Sal Moriarty. The first 3/4 of On The Road is one of the best things I've ever read. I am not fond of the end, because nothing really changes. So apparently Supernatural was taking more than just a page outta that book.

LOL I jest. Things did change. Dean finally saw Sam as an equal and not just his bratty kid brother. He accepted Sam's death and kept his promise. Those were nice (needed moar hugging though.)

So. Gonna try and divide this up into things liked and things not liked. And try not to ramble on. I was less OMGWTFDIDIJUSTWATCH upon second viewing last night, although I'm still a wee angry, and now I'm sober enough to put coherent thoughts together.

Things I liked:

The impala equaling Xander is quite possibly the greatest thing ever. Little army man = yellow crayon! But really, if there was one thing perfect about this episode, it was the impala's backstory. The narration by Chuck, the clips montage from all the other seasons, which, while probably also a way for them to save budget money, pulled at just the right heartstrings to make me all teary, because the impala is the heart of the show.

So while this narration was happening, I was trying to figure out why the format was a mite familiar. I just realized, one of the newer Star Wars books gives the history of the Millenium Falcon in much the same way. I wish I could quote the text here, because I think even the line "rolled off the line" is used. I made a post about it earlier this year. The cincher? One of the Falcon's past names was the Wayward Son. The Star Wars references, they are un-ending.

The montages. So much love for them. Especially in the end, with the quick flash of pratically every classic SamnDean moment, ending with a hug. While I would've liked to have seen them hug in present time, the flashback and implication that that's what Sam was seeing to overtake Lucifer, that was plenty. Epic love will save the day.

Dean's quiet defeat, both after Samifer disappears in Detroit, and before newly-made angel Castiel appears in Stull Cemetery (Stull Cemetery! So glad they finally managed to work that into the show somewhere!) The make-up job on Dean's face after their fight was so affecting, more than any other time Dean's ever been beat up. It wasn't just that Sam's fists had done it to him, it was that usually, he kinda looks the same when he gets beat up, you know, like, busted lip, cut around his eye. This was exponentially worse.

SAMIFER!!!! \o/ (Okay, I am not a fan of Jared's acting this season, I'll be blunt. It's the hair and the forehead, it gets to me. But. I deal. I'm not gonna bitch bitch about it. it's not THAT bad, it's just...not subtle. Or maybe it is and I'm not getting the point, whatever. But. SAMIFER.) I said in the post before show started that I'd be very disappointed if "We will always end up here, I win, so I win" didn't come true. I IS NOT DISAPPOINT. Lucifer even says "I WIN." which is amazing. Sad there was no white suit, though. lol. I don't need to elaborate. AnYWAY. There were parts of Samifer that I really enjoyed (his chat with Michael, how instantly angry he got at Cas and the simple way he killed him and Bobby) an parts that I really didn't enjoy (the mirror arguement montage bothered me. I mean, neat way to show Sam fighitnign, but still)

I liked Castiel's death. No, not for the reason you first assume. I have come to enjoy human!Castiel quite a lot and I knew from the moment he Left 4 Dead-style chucked that moltov that he was a goner and I was all DD: BUT. I like that it was instantaneous, that Lucifer could not see past his own anger issues, that Castiel was just an annoying roach to him. And Bobby's reaction basically summed up everyone else's reaction as well. And then at that point Bobby's death was also inevitable, an Dean's noooo echoed my mother's epic scream.

Things I didn't like:
Chuck as God and the little too blatent Kripke=God and fans gonna bitch lines. Unneeded and kinda grandstanding.

Sam at the end. While it does leave us all speculating what the fuck, is he sam or lucy, I think it softens the blow of the cliffhanger a bit
and makes his and Dean's sacrifice seem less important. I wish that scene would've been like the first scene of season six, or the last scene of 6.1.

Castiel and Bobby coming back to life. One, or the other, sure. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy they're both alive, but again, lessens the impact. Also, WHERE THE HELL IS CROWLEY? Bobby's soul, anyone?

Things I have accepted:
Lisa. Obviously the show wants to force her down our throats, and okay. I get that Dean is keeping his promise to Sam, that he would rather be dead or saving Sam, as Chuck said. But this is where he's matured. He's keeping his promise whether he likes it or not. I can deal with that. After all, I do want Dean Winchester happy. And if this is a set-up for season six to jump five years, for Dean to become some kind of father to Ben, I can entertain that idea. (of course, then there's the notion that iffin Sam comes back Dean leaves with him and becomes a deadbeat dad an that's no good)

Gotta stop typing now, time to get ready for work. Plumber's fixed the pipes I think so I can shower.

Things for YOU to see:
5.22 Meta - The Epic Love Story of Sam and Dean I suck at descriptions. Just go read this. It's short, it's sweet.
Supernatural: Stand (5 seasons) Video I wouldn't have seen if not for crystalchain reccing it. It made me all teary.
What Comfort was it Wisdom REFUR WROTE FIC. Do I nee to say anything else?
