grey's anatomy || coherent supernatural thoughts

I will never like Derek Sheppard.

Christina and Owen make me sad. I want that kind of love. Also, I kept waiting for her to mention the baby to him as well, but she never did. I hope it is a conversation they have later. I love how Owen is giving her pieces of himself while she's doing her damndest not to.

Karev. ILU. And as far as that little boy's parents go, honestly, as far as ANYONE in a hospital room ever goes, LISTEN TO ME. When the doctor comes in to do a medical procedure, ESPECIALLY if its something that will save the patient's life, GET OUT OF THE ROOM. You may think it's comforting to be in the room? ITS NOT. And it's not helpful.

I don't think I'll enjoy a blonde Lexie Grey. I'm assuming it's a "out with the bad, in with the new" thing. I've done the dye my hair to avoid the problem thing too. Hopefully Mark will come to his senses, Little Grey. I do love you two so.

As for the best show on Earth? Okay, no, I wouldn't go that far. One good episode does not make up for half a season of flops. But Supernatural rocked it tonight.

Still with the theme of episodes with Led Zeppelin song titles are the best ones. Yes, yes they are.

The whole beginning of the episode I was just kinda like "Meh." I don't really care for young!John and Mary, sorry. But then by the end I was all "OMG THIS IS AH-MAZING.

+ Had they not used Cherry Pie already? I swear I've heard that song already on the show, but maybe I was just having Guitar Hero flashbacks. And was the other song Sammy Hagar? I think it was. My mother flailed a bit about it.

+ Jensen was especially attractive in this episode. As was Matt Cohen.

Downsides of watching Supernatural with parents:
1) Can't be as emotional as I want to be. There were points I could've FLAILED and practically CRIED. But I kept to wringing my hands at the edge of my seat.
2)That said, my mother has RIDICULOUS reactions to things. She's one of those people who YELLS at the tv screen like it'll help.
3)When Sam and Dean first ended up in '78, my parents were naming EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. of the cars on the street there. And every car in the episode period. Make, model, year. The yellow car they walk past? A '58...something. I don't remember because I was TRYING to hear the dialogue.

But seriously, GODDAMN SO MANY HOT CARS IN THIS EPISODE.

+ Sam has a very "Needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few" Spock thing going on lately, doesn't he? 'Kill me, it'll be fine, Break up with John, it'll be fine.' For example.

+ Castiel was tolerable in this episode. "I don't understand that reference." And the fact that he calls Sam a friend. It's...cute. And very human. And when he returned at the end his "I did? I'm very surprised." made me lol. Also made me realize that he really knows he has nothing left to lose, so he'll try anything to win.

+ There are so many subtle looks and just a lot of good acting in this episode. I think it kinda makes it better than it should be in places, tbh.

+ I didn't like Sam's conversation with John. I feel like it's just too much beating a dead horse about how he understand why John did what he did, so on so forth. We get it, you're like your father.

+ The fact that Mary sang "Hey Jude" as a lullaby endeared her to me so much. You don't even know. That song, it means SO MUCH to me. One of my children will be named Jude, and I have always intended that Hey Jude and Let it Be to be my lullabies to my children, like they were mine as well. Also on the periphery, bwee, one more thing I have in common with Dean! But god, that whole conversation. ;__;

+ "Your children will be cursed." Dean looks down but he doesn't disagree. Does he think the same now? I don't think he used to.

+ Poor Dean having to watch Sam die again. :(

+ MICHAEL!!!! Matt Cohen as Michael!!! He CAN act. It was cool. "Your darling little Sammy." Even Michael ships them. :P "Six degrees of Heaven Bacon" was the best joke in the whole show. I like Michael. A dick, righteous, mindlessly obedient to God (so far), but if they're pitting Michael and Lucifer to be just like Sam and Dean, that'll mean that inevitably Michael will stop obeying his father just like Dean did.

+ A clue, perhaps:
"You can't fight city hall. But you can goddamn sure blow it up." - George Carlin

+ You'll notice I haven't mentioned Anna. I'm bitter about what they did to her character. So I won't be mentioning her. I'm glad she went out in a blaze of glory though, that Michael killed her and not Dean.

THIS EPISODE, OY. *adds to favorites list*

Maybe I will watch it then. IDK IDK. I'm so very... chagrined about the whole thing. IDEK what's wrong with me. You can't just STOP liking something, can you?

[identity profile] alwaysenduphere.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
No, I totes get it. This season has been very disillusioning as far as the awesome scale of Supernatural goes. But no, I don't think you can just up and STOP liking something. But you can definitely become less enamored with it. Especially after all the bombs lately. This episode...is not a bomb. It may not be as amazing to you as it is to others, but I don't think you'll be terribly disappointed. It's definitely better than last week. :P

I'm also of the opinion that if you're gonna watch a series, you can't just SKIP an episode because you don't like its contents. Otherwise I would've NEVER finished Firefly or Veronica Mars.

[identity profile] getyourguns.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:46 am (UTC)(link)
I LIKED ALL OF FIREFLY. Veronica Mars... never saw, never wanted to.

Idk I went from OMG I LOVE SUPERNATURAL MY LIFE IS SUPERNATURAL to not even wanting to see the episode. I probably won't even see last week's until I get the DVD (if I do). My grandma came in all YOU'RE NOT WATCHING SUPERNATURAL?! and I was just like .... :| it's not my life ok.

[identity profile] alwaysenduphere.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
I think I liked all of Firefly, too, now that I think about it. I was failing at coming up with shows that I'd seen all of that you'd seen all of too. LOL. I was trying for a point, lol.

I totally wouldn't have watched last week's Supernatural if it weren't for my parents wanting to watch it too. IDK, I lose interest in things here and there, but even in the case of say, Heroes, I'm still kinda curious about what's going on because I still care about the characters. I suppose there are shows I just watch an episode here and there, but I don't really give a shit about, too. Like House. /shrug

[identity profile] getyourguns.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
I watched that one Heroes with Sylar doing Matt's wife as Matt haha just because HELLO. But before that, I hadn't watched it in a year, so for the rest of the ep I was all what is that who is he what is happening wtf is this show about any more.

[identity profile] stripedsockscat.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
oooh yeah, that reminds me of another fleeting yet heartbreaking moment... when Sam and Dean are both ok with not being born. ouch.

I did like Sam's convo with Dad because it was more for Sam's benefit. Just things he needed to say outloud in the course of his acceptance. I wonder how much his anger flame going out will affect how good a vessel he is. Or if it does. Its not what Lucifer needs that's for sure.

I also think Michael was stretching a bit of his "truth" for Dean. He's gotta convince him somehow. I can't wait to see how that plays out. I'm still not quite coherent...I'm gonna watch again and pull full thoughts together tomorrow night.

[identity profile] alwaysenduphere.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. What got me is that they don't even have to discuss it. Dean just says that it's okay, and it's obvious Sam agrees. Like, THEY DO KNOW EACH OTHER. Which makes last week's episode POINTLESS. /grumble

He did get to tell his dad he loved him, so yeah. Selling point, I suppose.

Second watching brings much coherency and thinky thoughts.

[identity profile] aisalynn.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm. I actually liked Sam's convo with John. Maybe not so much everything that was said--I mean yeah, we as the audience have definitely gotten that point by now--but that he got to have that conversation at all. I'm sure it's always bugged Sam that his last conversation with his dad was an argument and then a request for coffee.

I didn't mention Anna on my SPN post either. I thought she seemed rather out of character in this episode.

[identity profile] alwaysenduphere.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I guess I'm glad he got to tell his father he loved him and stuff. Closure and all that, ookay.

I'm not sure we ever really got what Anna would be like IN character, as far as Angel!Anna goes, which really really annoys me.

[identity profile] meiou-set.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Good call on the clue! *is awed*

[identity profile] alwaysenduphere.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
You're the only one who's noticed so far! I like want to expound on this clue SO much. DOES IT MEAN SOMETHING?!

[identity profile] force-oblique.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 10:18 am (UTC)(link)
OMG *flails*

All my shows are blowing my mind lately! <333

[identity profile] jbangelo.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 12:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I will never like Derek Sheppard.

Me neither. I think I loathe him more than I've ever loathed a fictional character.

Did you notice that Owen's "I love you, why won't you let me" speech was very similar to one that Burke once gave Cristina?

[identity profile] alwaysenduphere.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
OHHHH NO I DIDN'T. i try to block burke out of my mind, honestly, heh.

I like Patrick Dempsey and all, and I kinda liked him okay here and there, but overall, I really just think Derek's not a good character.

Your icon! I want! Are there more like it somewhere? IS THERE A CHRISTINA/OWEN COMM? Because I couldn't find one.

[identity profile] jbangelo.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
There is! [livejournal.com profile] in_the_after

I really just think Derek's not a good character.

I started disliking Derek way back in S2, shortly after Addison came on the scene. He made a big show of being the noble husband and choosing Addison over Meredith, but then proceeded to treat Addison (and Meredith, too, for that matter) like shit. His character has just gone downhill from there, imo, and he has no redeemable qualities in my eyes. It's a shame, too, because I've always loved Patrick Dempsey, and sometimes I need to watch one of his movies to remind myself that he is not Derek, lol.

[identity profile] alwaysenduphere.livejournal.com 2010-02-06 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
OH HO HO. *runs to join* I was looking for something much less creatively titled.

I think that's always been my biggest problem with him, how he treats his womenz.

[identity profile] klutzy-girl.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 01:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved last night's episode so much.

One of my favorite parts was the "I'll turn this car around" speech from John. They were a "normal" family for a few minutes!

Pregnant!Mary and John were so adorable at the end. I loved it.

I also love the "Hey Jude" as a lullaby for Dean. Made me wonder if Dean ever sang it to Sam to get him to fall asleep. (I'm sure there'll be fic. I may write it.)

[identity profile] alwaysenduphere.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Awkward family road trip!

OOOH. I MAY WRITE THAT FIC TOO. Never too much of Dean and The Beatles.

[identity profile] sparksflyout.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 09:45 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, what?! Lexie is going blonde? No. Just, no. Please tell me I'm mis-reading something. 'Cause. NO!

Christina and Owen make me sick.

Ahem. I do the same thing as your mother. It DOES help -- the person yelling.

Dude, I'm so with you on Matt as Michael. And Anna. Ergh. Such promise...only to be reemed by heaven and the writers.

Also. How does you do blinky text? Me wants. :sammy eyes:

[identity profile] alwaysenduphere.livejournal.com 2010-02-07 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Sorry, I think that's technically a spoiler, but I've seen pics of Chyler in her blonde hair, and in next week's preview we see Mark freaking out when a blonde turns around and I'm pretty sure it's her.

Aw, you don't like Christina and Owen? I will admit that their relationship is SO unhealthy, but I love how passionate they are.

OH BUT IT DRIVES ME CRAZY. She's a really loud person. Maybe that's it. Plus she asks lots of questions too. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just an outburst here and there, like a "OH SAM YOU CRAZY" but it's more "OH SAM YOU CRAZY WATCH OUT SHES GOT A KNIFE WELL WHAT'D YOU DO THAT FOR YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DUCK" running commentary of annoyance.

Blinky text is simple! < blink > WORDS < / blink> without the spaces, o'course!
