A/n: somehow I find it odd that I could take a 400+ word story and reduce it to even less. I guess I was never taught the ways in which to make a proper remix. Sorry. :(
Pills in the cup rattle with each shake. To take, or not to take.
“Don’t you want to feel alive?”
Figure Adam to ask the hard questions. I haven’t been alive since I was eight, I say. What’s it like? I don’t feel anything, he says, but his words are my lie, not his.
“We owe you our lives.”
The look on Mohinder’s face says everything that day. Did you save us or damn us with you? I pretend not to notice. You can’t owe the dead, anyway.
“I’m starting to like you.”
For a second things changed, and I could almost feel. But it was just another lie. I’m nothing, just Daddy’s blunt instrument, taught and trained well. My life is full of lies.
“One last time, Elle.”
It never ends. What life left do I have to lead anyway? Hunt. Capture. Kill. That’s who Daddy’s made me.
“More assignments in the field?”
Sure, Daddy, yes, Daddy, whatever you say. Nod, smile. Dig the knife a little deeper. I’m never getting out of here.

That line just...wow...says so much w/so little & yet can be interpreted in so many ways. I'm like in love with this. Thanks so much for this great piece. :D
