I don't even LIKE Star Trek but I do think it's opened up a lot of doors for science fiction in the main stream and all that.

It does kind of need to stop though. lol

Yeah. I think some of the ideas that came from Gene Rodenberry's mind were awesome.

Oh, I no doubt agree. Star Wars is definitely the more exciting franchise. But you have to admit that without Star Trek the Original Series, back in 1960-whatever, ideas like Star Wars (in 1977) probably wouldn't have gone over too well without Star Trek first pretty much creating the Science Fiction genre in TV/Movies.
