I've made this post almost every year since I've had this journal, and yet today it seems so much different.

I was in the band room, same place I was every morning freshmen year of high school (same place I always was, 3 years previous and following.) But we didn't play any music that day. There wasn't any learning coursework in any class that day. There was just shock and silence.

Four years later I was at Ground Zero, looking in at the holes left behind. Watching the remembrance service on television, I see what a beautiful memorial they've made out of the space, and for some reason it made me want to look at the pictures I took when I was there.
NYPD cars lined the streets across from Ground Zero.
The flag still flies.
The metal cross.

We will never forget. <3

OOH I'LL PLAY. I, shockingly, only have two favorite Beatles songs.

Let It Be
Hey Jude

Let It Be is that song that can make me cry and make me smile at the same time. There are times I feel ridiculously pathetic listening to it, and times I feel incredibly strong. I listen to it when I'm down, I listen to it when I'm not. But it is always there when I need it to be.

Hey Jude (and most of the Beatles discography, tbh) was what my mother would sing to me when I couldn't fall asleep as a kid, or, one memorable time, when I couldn't stop crying at a funeral. Sometimes she'd say 'Jude' but sometimes she'd replace it with 'You' or some pet name, but the melody always stayed the same.

Oh I also love Helter Skelter but really just to sing karaoke to. XD

Out for a walk...bitch.

Oh wait, that's only five.

Ummm.

I haven't lived up to potential.
*nods* IDK. I'd like for that sentence to change sometime soon, of course, but honestly, I think most people don't live up to their potential simply because they do not know what it is.

LOL ME and my serious answer.

Are you kidding me? LEFT 4 DEAD! Killing fucking zombies with the weapons of my choice (sword and shotgun, hello), awesome times. The first one though, not the second. I don't need any of those stupid jockeys up in my business. Oh, but if I did the first one the melee weapons aren't in that one...hmmm...ITS MY FANTASY WORLD SO I'D MAKE THEM BE IN IT, WHATEV.

Portal would be fun, too. Not so much Half Life, but I'd enjoy a gravity gun. But yeah, Portal. I could save Companion Cube and play with the portal gun, get some momenemum. :P

Then again, Beatles Rock Band would be awesome too. Could I be Paul? Or Ringo?

Fallout 3 would be kinda fun, too. Post-apocalypse for the win. I'd just hang out in Megaton, though. Too many creepy bug things in that world for me to kill.

I suppose Final Fantasy XI wouldn't be too bad. I'd enjoy riding a chocobo. Yes, yes I would. I'd sing the little song the whole time I was on it, too. Do doo do do do doo doo doo, do do do do do do doo, do do do dooo dooo!

Gosh. I don't know what else.

I don't know why I don't have a L4D icon. frown. BUT I HAS A PORTAL ONE!

Wreck of the Day - Anna Nalick

I'm actually pretty good about balancing out my listening patterns. This song's count was only 38, surprisingly. I have such a variety of music in my iTunes that my most listened really isn't a good example of what I do listen to. Most of my top 25 most played are songs that have been in my iTunes the longest, but aren't necessarily my favorites anymore, they've just had the opportunity to be listened to a lot. This song's a pretty good example of that, since I'm neither lonely nor heartbroken currently.

It's really warm in here.

random thought #1

There's about two dozen entries in my LJ before this, starting from 2002, but they're all transferred over from the Deadjournal I kept at the time. They all pretty emo and mostly start with "Today *insert item/action here* sucked" and end with "bye," and a good portion are about marching band. This is the first official entry of my livejournal, which I got because Kayla and Katie had (and still do). At first I was unwilling to give up DJ, but of course, LJ sucked me in because people were actually USING it, and I deleted my DJ, but decided to keep the entries, annoying and pathetic as they all sound.

In other news:

I'm debating on whether or not to sign up for [livejournal.com profile] startrekbigbang. There's no way I could write something (since we all saw how well that worked out for SPN Big Bang and I HAD an idea then), but I'd like to make some art. Except that I don't think I'm a very good artist. So...uhm...decide for me! Please?

Also, I've been debating about posting some original fiction for y'all to read and comment on to boost my ego since I can't seem to finish (or even start) any of the ideas I have bouncing around in my head anymore. Would anyone even be interested in reading them?

Edit: Also, I suck at replying to comments. I'm sorry! I do read them, it's just most of the time I don't really have anything to reply with, or even if I do, I just...don't. :( But I do appreciate everyone's comments. I also suck at giving comments for the same "i don't have anything to add/say" reason, and I don't like being the person who always comments with a "<3" or "*hugs*" all the time, although sometimes those are what's really needed. /ramble

"Listless" is the perfect way to describe how I feel about life right now.
