Chicago Con, act two: The Big Event

So, while I've been waiting for my crappy YouTube videos to upload, I've been poking around, watched the breakfast videos from the con that [livejournal.com profile] sin_attract posted. It almost looks like some of the stuff there was funnier than the panels. *shakes head* Jared and his ice packs. And Jensen just stands there shaking his head and lets Jared go off in 80 directions. Silly boys. I watched a bit of the actual panels too, and there was some really funny stuff I missed being so far back yonder in the room. lol. I'm not bitter or anything. :P But no, really, I was so glad to have gone, to have had the chance. I'm so thankful to Erin not only for taking me, but for pretty much letting me in on everything she was doing. We were like texting each other while she was getting her photo ops and autographs, so I wasn't completely out of the loop.

(this post is gonna take forever. And I still haven't showered or slept, lol)

I have little notes written like everywhere. I told myself I wasn't going to do anything but WATCH AND LISTEN during the panel, which is why there's few pictures and videos(that and I discovered my awesome camera wasn't so awesome 30-some rows back). I was sending text messages to people right and left during it though, and I even tried to voicepost them talking without being conspicuous, but I didn't press the right buttons. So after it was over I was writing little notes on this little notepad in my purse waiting on Erin to get her autographs, and then when we were talking driving back, I was saving drafts of text messages as I remembered stuff too. So, I kid you not, I have like notes here and there and everywhere in no particular order of what I could remember.

And I'm sure everyone's read stuff and seen some of the videos now, so mine's just another report, but I always try and read different perspectives (heck, I've read a bunch already, lol) so I'm adding mine to the mix as best as I can.

SO. Without futher ado,

Before Jared and Jensen came on, they had a bidding auction thing. And Erin had told me how kind of rediculous it was, how much money people spend, so I had an idea. But it was like $500 here and $400 there. Erin told me someone even paid like $1000 for an autograph ticket and a poster. I must've like misssed that one I was so in awe of the money that was just being thrown around. At one point I was like..."This is my entire college education. Where were these people when I needed a loan?" And I swear, like everyone who could hear me laughed.

Then to pretty much introduce Jared they showed this really cool fan-made video that I guess won a contest? (The dude with the mic really confused me sometimes). Jared came out like halfway through the video and watched from the side, so everyone was like "Jared's over there" and stopped watching the vid a bit. But it was really cool. Really powerful music, really suspenseful. A little long, but still good. If anyone has a link or something to it, I'd much appreciate watching it again. :)

And then Jared like hopped on stage. I couldn't much see, but like...he disappeared and then his head popped into view. I've read he did a barrel roll type thing? LOL.

(I swear, my notes are so unorganized. This is all gonna come out as like...word vomit)

I missed A LOT of what was going on up front because it was so quiet, so he must've said something wrong cuz he mentioned how his mom was an English teacher. And then that seemed to be a theme of the day (one of many), Jared screwing up words. There was an incident later when Jensen was there too where Jared says "Bangs up...Bang-up? Job." and then later something else that he couldn't say right, so he just switched phrasing.

Erin said one girl got up to the mic but was like so nervous and crying that she couldn't ask the question so she started to walk away and Jared jumped off the stage and gave her a really long hug. All I saw was Jared going "No, don't do that." and jumping off the stage out of site and then like back onto stage. Then he was like "You can see why I have stunt men." I thought he tripped cuz there was a loud thunking noise, but I guess he was doing another barrel roll, albiet less smooth.

Then there was the awkward question everyone was dreading, and it was even asked rudely. "Sam's a necro now, does that mean there's a chance he'll get back with Jess?" Poor Jared. And like...it seemed like the idea of Sam being a necro hadn't hit his ears before, or maybe he was just so surprised to hear it at the con, but he was like..."WHAT?! Wait, what?!" And then after some hooplah, I think his final word on it was a stern "NO." And then went on to the next question. *shakes head* PEOPLE, SERIOUSLY.

There was the whole "hand of Ipecac" question. Which, frankly, I know what Ipecac is, the nasty, awful-tasting stuff, but I'd never heard his power hand called that before. Tres Creative. I'm not even sure what the question really was, just that Ipecac stuck. Jared mentioned it to Jensen not long after he came out, and Jensen didn't get it at first either, or if he did, he acted like he didn't. He was like "I hit a cat once." And then there was a bit about the cat in Yellow Fever. Jensen deemed Ipecac the "Word of the Day" (no, not long pig) later on. It was like the word that didn't die.

I totally don't remember things in order...

He specified that the Eye of the Tiger scene was completely unplanned.

He talked about doing ADR for like scenes when Sam's getting choked, said how annoying it was cuz he always ended up out of breath. Sam hasn't been choked this much as he has in the last seasons. He joked it was cuz the last scene he like acted terribly in it so they'd get the hint he didn't like getting choked.

At one point he was like "I'm like picking my nose with the microphone...This'll be Jensen's mic." and then he like rubbed it in his armpits. Jensen got his own mic when he came out. I think he may have said that he heard Jared say all that, lol.

Another stupid question in my opinion was something about the bearded lady in ELAC. Like..."Sam had a thing for the bearded lady, did Jared?" And Jared just kinda played it off, was like..."Jensen did."

Then the next shocker was someone asking what Jared thought of Sam and Ruby, basically. And as Jared was stumbling for an appropriate answer, Jensen came out. They chatted a little bit, and I couldn't hear from where I was, but I'm sure it was funny. Jensen wanted a chair, JARED'S chair, and Jared wouldn't give it to him, so Jensen snatched his hat and like fake-pretended he was gonna throw it into the audience.

Jensen talked about how the scene with the cat in Yellow Fever was a lot longer than is shown on camera, and they made him do the scream several times to where he was hoarse when they went to film the next scene, which was the awesome "I quit" scene from later in the ep. Later someone asked a question about how planned their gag reels and stuff were, where again they emphasized that the Eye of the Tiger thing was completely spontaneous. I think the specific question was about the gag reel where Jared jumps and screams like a girl when Hendriksen pulls the gun in Jus in Bello, Jensen was like..."No, not planned. He started screaming, and you can see I look at him for a sec like...'what' and then im like, 'oh i should join in.'" And then he went on to say that he actually modeled the cat scream after Jared's scream there.

They were asked if they were still going to be friends when the show was over. "No." "Of course not. Delete him from everything, phone book." "Block his number." Jensen-"I'm gonna change the locks." Jared-" ITS MY HOUSE!" In a cute little fake-incredulous tone. LOL.

Jensen drives a Toyota Tundra. I thought the guy who asked was a little assuming and frankly a little condesceding, because he was like..."I picture you as a Toyota Prius guy." Like...really?

Some girl came up to ask a question, and I guess she'd taken her shoes off becuase Jared asked her "Where's your shoes? do you hate them?" And she responded that her feet hurt. His reaction was just so funny though.

Who takes longer to get ready in the morning? Jensen just kind of hung his head at first and pointed. Jared was like "I do, but it's because I have dogs, hair, gotta work out and shower." And Jensen's just shaking his head. Jared-"I'm inside getting ready." Jensen-"And I'm sitting in the car waiting." And then someone was like "So, Jared's the girl." SIGH. But their reaction was funny, and I think Jensen re-used the line later on after Jared had left.

Jared DOES NOT speak Italian or French, as a girl thought. Jensen speaks no other languages FLUENTLY, he said. Jensen says they speak Canadian though.I'm assuming the girl who asked the question was celebrating a birthday when she asked them to say it in any language. Jared says-"Feliz Cumpleanos." Then a moment. "Happy Birthday, eh?" Which made Jensen laugh.

I sent Brett a text message at one point saying "Jared's afraid of waking up with little arms!" I think someone asked what their fears were. and all I could think of was "I have a big head! and little arms!" from the TREX from...Meet the Robinsons, I think? And I knew Brett would get it. Jensen said he fears NOTHING. LOL. And that Jared screams like a girl when he hears unexplainable sounds at night. I expected someone to make a comment about the living situation then, but no one did, THANK GOD.

I get a little confused on everything now because, being the Jensen-brained girl that I am, his answers seemed to stick more than Jared's. Mostly the memories of Jared that I have are of him just being...Jared. But Jensen was very articulate and open yesterday, so I seemed to remember his answers better. So I'm not sure if some of these were answered while Jared was still there or not. I do know when Jared tried to leave the stage he fake took the chair with him and there was a whole thing that I couldn't really see.

Jensen LOVES chocolate. He loves his gran's chocolate pie and his mom's pumpkin pie is his second favorite. I texted Jessica while he was having like chocolate Tourettes telling her how they had something in common, lol, even though she can't actually eat it.

*scans through to see if any other texts were sent...* I have some that Erin sent me that are really funny. I'll get to them.

Someone asked about the 5 seasons thing, and Jensen answered with something different. I guess for syndication you need 4 seasons, and he said that's what Kripke was shooting for, so he went into this season guns ablazing planning to end at 4, but when the ratings were so awesome he was like "crap. I'm gonna have to like write in robots or something." So I guess they're slowing down the pace a bit, working in some of the stuff that didn't get in s3 cuz of the writers' strike. So...KEEP WATCHING FOR MORE SHOW!

Jensen got asked a couple serious questions. His parents instilled the whole "do unto others" rule onto him, as well as "patience" as important life lessons.

Someone from Switzerland asked a question about what are important phrases to know in English and said what one she'd learned from watching. Jensen thought the way she said "pig n' a poke" was like the best thing ever because it was so stilted and stiff, and I felt a little sorry for her because she probably had no clue what he was saying and maybe thought he was making fun of her. I hope she didn't but you never know. Then she continued with "okey dokey" and he just lost it a little bit. It was funny. And I don't even remember what he told her she should remember. Then she asked him to say "Rise and shine, sammy." And he did, sort of. Not like Dean did in Mystery Spot, and he only said "Sam."

Someone asked what his favorite scene in Ten Inch Hero was, and he was like..."well, there was the grocery store or the sub shop, so..." And then went on to say the beginning, then someone was like "do the dance!" Jensen-"what dance? ..OH, the tap dancing thing?" and then he was like.."that wasn't even in the script, I just kinda threw it in there, not thinking that you know, hey, they'd like it and stick it in there..." He's very good at avoiding doing things, isn't he?

Jensen stood up and started walking around at one point. I think the question that got him was "whats the last concert he'd gone to?" Which was someone named Martin Sexton, and I guess he arrived late and it was really quiet so he was doing that shuffling through the aisles thing. And at one point Jensen turned around to the back aisle and mimicked someone yelling "down in front" and I swear, It sound like it came from like 20 feet behind him (the direction he was facing). It was really weird. I was like..."did he just throw his voice? Holy crap, the talents keep coming." After he'd been up a minute or two, he was like..."Sorry. Got Bored of Sitting." He was very...not jittery, really, but kinda out there. He apologized a couple times when he like...got off track, sort of. It was cute.

Someone asked for a hug because Jared had given one fan a hug, so Jensen did. Then she asked about Eye of the Tiger, and he was like..."why did I ever do that?" And then he did do (I almost said do do. lol. OH! I totally did accidentally once when I was talking to Erin and she laughed and I was like..."what? OMG, OH!" and then like..."YOU GET THE JOKE! It was so awesome) the air guitar leg thing, which I vaguely got on film, if it ever freakin' loads onto YouTube. Then there was the "Campbell's soup...It's a good soup" thing which just made me giggle. And he threw his head back and just laughed. Again with Jensen and the random and the apologizing. He did it a little later too, impersonating Cartman for a second, I don't remember why, but he was standing. It was really funny.

the leg guitar thing

Someone asked him to say "I love you" in Mandarin, but she told him it was a greeting first, then he said it and she told him what it really meant. He sounded funny saying it. Abby got it on her camera, but I dunno if it'll get posted anytime soon.

Another semi-awkward question of "Who's the hottest actress who's been on the show?" And it wasn't so much the question as the person throwing their opinion in (the girl from monster movie). Sometimes, I don't mind when people do that, but for some reason that one bothered me.

Uhm... someone asked about what was up with Jared's hair, to Jensen. I got a little bit of it.

On an interesting note that I didn't know, Cliff, their main(I think) bodyguard, (the one who Jared said did all the cleaning, lol) was the dude that was Tiny in Folsom Prison Blues! Cliff was really cool too, because there were these bodyguards walking around in like nice suits and stuff, and then here's Cliff, in his shirt with cut-off sleeves, displaying all his tattoos, looking like a true bodyguard. lol. When I was waiting for Erin to get her autograph, someone came and sat down and was talking about how she asked Cliff for a autograph and he was like..."I don't know how" So Jared was like "Here's a pen. Here's the back of a ticket. You write your name." LOL.

I'm not sure exactly what the question was, but it came back to the giant Teddy Bear in Wishful Thinking. And Jensen just started chuckling. I have a lot of it on video. Can't really see him that well, but you can hear him. He does a spot-on impression of the bear. It's priceless.

And another question was about Jensen's favorite gun to use. The girl fascinated me, because she said she worked in a gun shop, but then she talked about how she hunted animals and how she had to explain to people when she was talking about SPN hunting and animal hunting. It was all a little interesting, but time consuming and kind of unnecessary, in my opinion, especially because it was near the end. He likes the 1911 Colt the best. Then there was a bit of the BB Gun story retold, and re-enacted with him like running around stage faking getting shot in the leg by Jason. I think that's where the Cartman thing may have come in. But I'm not sure.

And that's all the random crazy notes I can find of what I had. But I do have a bit of what Erin said and did.

First off, she chose to wear a miniskirt with boots and a v-neck shirt. She wanted to be remembered, lol! She said Jensen was like.."HEEEEYYYY" (looking at her chest a bit) when she walked in for the photo op. lol. And Jared said "Hey sweetie." And Jensen thanked HER for coming, when it should've been the other way around, you know?

And for the autographs she had the best idea ever. She gave Jared Jensen's picture and vice versa and had them draw all over them. So, for the last 30 people in the autograph line who wondered what was taking so long, blame her, lol. And Jensen and his artisticness. I told her I wouldn't post the pictures online because you never can trust people with what they do with them (I'm sorry) but I have them saved on my computer. But basically, she handed the picture to the moderator person who was like "Wrong picture!" and she was like "give it to him!" And Jared(I think, if he sitting first in the line) was like "you want me to sign this?" and she said "I want you to draw all over it" and he was like..."AWESOME!" And Jensen had a similar reaction. I guess Jared scribbled on his and stuff and was done and Jensen was still taking his time, so Jared was like "what are you doing down there, drawing a Monet?"

Jensen, in his Monet-ness, made an emo-Jared. No wonder it took him so long, he like gave Jared eyeliner and silver lipstick (they both used both color markers on the photos!) and 3 ear piercings and like a goatee. And he did it very precise-like. Oh, and there's a little stick man pointing a gun into Jared's ear. And Jared drew a "I'm Dumb" bubble on Jensen's picture, and gave him crazy silver hair and a silver booger and blacked out some of his teeth. They're so silly. They didn't actually sign the pictures though, but Erin didn't mind.

Some random pictures I took. Can't really see their faces, but you know its them from their posture and outlines, lol.

What Erin was wearing/looks like:

And one shot of both of us together, after the fact, which is why my hair's all pinned back and we look a little tired, maybe.

There's a couple pictures of the convention room and stuff that I didn't put in either entry, but I don't know how to link to my LJ scrapbook. But they're in there.

And that's it and OH MY GOD IS THIS A LONG POST. LOL. I hope some people read this. If you don't because it's all stuff you've heard before, at least read the last couple paragraphs about Erin's experience, because that's definitely unique.

here's the link to part one, the journey to chicago and leading up to the boys appearance if you missed it or wanna read it now. Just in Case. LOL. Damnit, I took all the time posting these, I want someone to read them

And now I'm off to do SOMETHING useful. Theoretically. I'll probably just end up in Rachael and Nicole's room. Screw doing actual homework, lol. I'll just be lost in class tomorrow.
