First of all, Chicago traffic is THE WORST traffic I have ever been in, and this includes LA traffic. It took me nearly 3 hours to get 30 miles. Of course it was 5 pm on a Friday afternoon but still. Ridiculous. And then when I left (at 5 am on a Monday!) it was still pretty bad for as early as it was. Sigh. This is why I could never be a big city girl.

So, ChiCon was cool. As usual. I arrived late Friday afternoon, so I didn't see anyone speak on Friday at all. Met up with [livejournal.com profile] build_the_moon for the first time, which was fun, though we didn't actually spend too much time together, too busy doing ALL THE THINGS, but it's always cool to meet online folks in real life. Spent most of my time Kelly and Kate, though, which is what I planned. I think it was probably my last Chicon, though. Nothing will top last year, and Nashcon is cheaper and closer to me. So yeah. Last hurrah.

As you have seen here and there via awesomely stealthy people (like seriously, I roomed with volunteers, I know how strict they are about recording video. People are NINJAS) there was plenty of totally PG fun. LOLOLOL. I think the only panel that was legit PG was Jared and Jensen's. But yeah. Sebastian and Mark are the bestest. As long as you're not an 11 year old child.

I had a wonderful seat in the second row of Silver, on the aisle, even. I see now why people pay so much money for reserved seats. I unfortunately do not have a good camera, but eh, I prefer to watch than take pics anyway. I did get a few when everyone wondered up and down the aisle, though.

this post is huuuuuge )

Since As I'm looking around on the SuperWiki, there aren't very many videos linked, and I know [livejournal.com profile] agt_spooky didn't record her usual awesome vids because her seat was a couple rows behind mine (I kept looking over wondering if she was recording and hoping she was!), I will try and give a brief panel summary of what I remember of J2 since, let's face it, they will always be the main event.

So that's that. I did have lots of fun, as one does at a convention, but like I said, I think nothing will ever top surprise!Jensen and J2M panel from last year, so I'm probably done with ChiCon. This was my fifth convention and at some point I've got to say 'okay enough,' you know? So yeah. Two conventions a year is far too much, Nashcon is much closer and much cheaper, and at some point I'd like to make it to Vancouver. Though the idea of flying there terrifies me, let alone the idea of being able to afford it.

Alas, until Nashcon.

[Poll #1772379]

ugh rich text editor you are so buggy. but i hate coding polls.

So in other news, went and saw CONAN THE BARBARIAN yesterday. Yes it deserves caps. And uh, guys, I love Conan. I loved the originals, Aaaahnald and all. And this one was...everything I expected it to be. Jason Momoa, man. KHAL DROGO MAN. Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng. I mean honestly. The movie was really bloody and gory, like, gagged in couple of places gory, and the one sex scene was incredibly incredibly hot (and so so awkward to watch with my mother because she is that annoying person in the theater who talks. through. EVERYTHING. I always think I can ignore her and then I never can. I WAS FOUR ROWS AWAY.) Anyway, was so so so glad I forgot that Conan could've been Jared Padalecki because there's no way he would've worked as well in that role as Jason Momoa did. No way. Plus I would've just been so distracted by AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAABS. :P

But uh...where are the J2 Conan AUs. I want Conan!Jared rescuing Tamara!Jensen now. GIMME.

al;ajf I can't believe in the last post I forgot to mention Fran's and Jared-stalking!

So yeah, I told [livejournal.com profile] toolazytowork that I wanted to ~experience the neighborhood~ so she took me to this delicious asian restaurant and then idk I mentioned dive bars or karaoke or something, I don't even know, and she was all, "well I know this one place..." and I was like "fabulous."

Now some people might find Fran's the most ridiculous place in the world. It's a small bar, a pool table, like 10 chairs, and a couple of microphones, and as [livejournal.com profile] toolazytowork put it - they serve whatever beer is on special at Krogers that week. G L O R I O U S.

Have some LQ pics of the place )

Let's see, there was a table of hipsters, with one very drunk girl also named Mackenzi who could actually still sing okay despite her inebriation (and also do a wicked bottle-balancing trick), the cute old harmonizing men at the table next to us, and then random people in and out playing pool. But honestly, other than the fact that it was only beer (bleh) I could live there, lol. Epitome of "dive bar." We brought down the house with a stirring rendition of Wanted: Dead or Alive. I also sang Me & Bobby McGee but I think I need to stop thinking I can actually sing that song because uh, no. Otherwise, smashing time until my body decided it'd had enough abuse and legit couldn't do anymore all of the sudden, right before we were gonna sing Piano Man. ://

So we went home, got ready for bed, PJs and all... and then Jared tweeted about Steve's performance at Tootsies. So I said to [livejournal.com profile] toolazytowork, "How far away is Tootsies? Because Jared's there RIGHT NOW." And she said, "GET DRESSED." And so we went.

Unfortunately no Jared was spotted. I think he was sly with that tweet and sent it after he'd already left. It's possible that he left in the 15 minutes it took us to get there, and we couldn't go in b/c the place was closing, but I mean, we looked HARD down Broadway, and no 6'5 moose were spotted. :( (Also it was weird because there was a band packing up their shit, none of whom were Steve Carlson so idk idk, who knows how long Jared waited to send that tweet) But we can at least say we tried! AND I got to have a taste of Nashville's night life, which was rather fun and definitely worth experiencing more of.

I bet you were starting to wonder if I'd ever make a post at all about this? ...no, probably not.

Nashcon by the numbers: Total miles - 530.9; Total money spent: around $300; Total amount of sleep: 32 hours in 5 days. Amount of fun had: Priceless.

Bah, I'm too lazy to upload photos to go with the story now, oh well. Here have our photo op to make up for the lack of other pics:

Photobucket

There was a very adorable litte boy in a Superman shirt in line in front of us that Misha picked up for their photo op. That was cute.

Anyway.

Thursday I worked until 8am, slept a few hours and drove to Nashville.

aks;ljfsldkjf so many cool things I'm sure I'm forgetting but whatever. I'd like to take this moment to thank [livejournal.com profile] twofourteen for selling me her ticket so that I didn't have to deal with Creation (who always seems to screw up my order somehow), as well as [livejournal.com profile] toolazytowork for allowing me not only to stay in her house but like, trusting me with a house key and leaving me alone (with her adorable pets) to bumble around. Please please stop worrying about Friday night, I'm just glad you recovered and everything was glorious for the next two days.

In related news, every time Jared tweets I flail. I set up my phone to receive his and Misha's tweets AT ALL TIMES because I don't want to miss this shit, it's G L O R I O U S.

I'm working 6 days in a row, then going to Muncie with [livejournal.com profile] aplethora (or should I say "rescuing her from a life of boredom") and then working 6 more days, all on top of coming back from Nashville and then working the next day, so essentially I don't have a free day until June 24th, so if you don't see me around anywhere, that's why.

Sorry this post is long and rambly and really probably not all that exciting since I didn't discuss any of what was said in the panels or anything (THEY WERE ALL HILARIOUS). If you follow my twitter, you know I updated about pretty much everything that happened to me this weekend no matter how absurd or mundane, as well as tweeted through all the panels as best I could. But in short: I HAD AN AWESOME TIME AND WAS SAD TO GO.

SO HIII. Obviously I'm home and shit, if you couldn't tell by the influx of comments on some of your journals. I did make it through 5 days worth of LJ entries, someone give me a fucking medal. I didn't comment a lot, but I did comment.

I couldn't deal with the hotel's slow wireless combined with my slow old fogie of a laptop so I just barely got by. HOMG it is SO HARD not to see twitter all the time. I'm sure I missed so many amazing tweets. But yeah.

BEST. WEEKEND. OF MY LIFE. Which is what I said last year at Chicon but this weekend...omg how do you top suprise!Jensen fucking Ackles. And so many fucking awesome people I met this weekend! It got to where I couldn't even keep track. I should've carried around a little notebook or something because I can't remember everyone's names/LJ names to look them up on The Google. (Also I have a ridiculous amount of inside jokes now. The sheer number rivals the size of Matt Cohen's penis.)

OKAY WELL YOU ALL KNOW WHAT HAPPENED because for once Creation was not douchey and let people record glorious footage. Sweeeet glorious footage. I actually already watched a bunch of [livejournal.com profile] agt_spooky's vids again and discovered there were things I'd missed, especially during the J2M panel because I was laughing so goddamned hard.

I will make a post with my memories and favorites and highlights and whatnot...at a later date. This one is for pretty pictures. I didn't actually take but a handful of my own pics b/c I figured ppl w/far better quality camera than me would be sharing and caring after the con. I thought [livejournal.com profile] wolfpup2000 would be there, but apparently she had a family emergency and was not. So hopefully someone else took equally amazing photos like she usually does. Especially of their shoes and jewelry.

Photo Ops & Autos under here! ) So there's that. Now I'm going to bed as I've had about 4 hours of sleep per night since Thursday morning and I honestly don't know how my body is still going. It's also really confused to be sober for the whole day, I think. I've had a headache since I got going. But that could just have been from all the screaming children. (Oh PS I substitute teached...taught at the elementary school today. First day on the job. Were we that crazy as 1st/2nd/3rd graders? I somehow think not.)

So anyway. GOODNIGHT. I MISS ALL OF YOU #CHICON FOLKS DEARLY, [livejournal.com profile] crimsonkitty88, [livejournal.com profile] dauntdraws, [livejournal.com profile] uglyduckling_me, [livejournal.com profile] crackedeggie, [livejournal.com profile] aplethora, [livejournal.com profile] unreckless, [livejournal.com profile] karabou, [livejournal.com profile] vehiclesshockme, [livejournal.com profile] toolazytowork, [livejournal.com profile] slayerkate, [livejournal.com profile] dugindeep, [livejournal.com profile] gembat, [livejournal.com profile] _mournthewicked, [livejournal.com profile] ibroketuesday, [livejournal.com profile] quantum_speck, [livejournal.com profile] woodstarling, [livejournal.com profile] cullencharm, [livejournal.com profile] crawleysnakes and my god I don't even remember everyone's usernames tbqh. But I miss you all. Hell I miss people I never even got introduced to, lol.

So yeah, Sunday the big day. Gotta admit, I was pretty exhausted by this point, so I definitely missed some of the little nuances that made it so perfect.

-I whacked my knee on the bed frame the other night and I swear the bruise is getting bigger instead of smaller. Ouch.

-Angel's character is so un-Angel-like in the first 3 episodes of Buffy. God, season one. How you do kind of...suck.

-The hospital elevators remind me of the Tower of Terror. They're superfast and my ears pop at the pressure change. They rattle like crazy on the way up, and when they stop I feel like my knees are pushing into my ankles. I've never had a problem with elevators before (or the Tower of Terror, as I rode it 4 times in succession), but I swear, I'm thisclose to walking the six flights of stairs up to the bone marrow floor every time we ride the damn thing.

-My dog apparently caught a dove yesterday. My mom was practically laughing hysterically trying to paint the image for me. Winchester's just got neutered so he's wearing one of those cones on his head to keep him from his stitches, but he managed to latch onto an injured dove and carry it to my dad. Of course he only brings the nasty stuff back. LOL. I miss my puppy.

-Oh, also our house is apparently crooked and the new porch that just got built doesn't line up with the house frame. My mom was doing the whole "it's not funny, but it is" thing when she was telling me. There's a six-inch difference between the top of the house and the bottom now.

-It's getting better. All this is almost over, thankfully. And then...real life, finally. DUN DUN DUN. Oh, and I may not be around at all for a couple of days. Depending on how his counts come back, we may not have a trip to the hospital this weekend at all. Which means no internet access.

I wrote all this last night at like 3am half-drunk on wine coolers and extremely extremely morose. Actually, it's pretty upbeat for what I'm feeling now. But seriously. BEST. EPISODE. EVER. I'm'a be thinking about this one for weeks.

NEEDS MOAR ZOMBIES )
Anyway, EEEEE EPISODE!! Nothing will compare to this episode for awhile at least, I'm sure. NOTHING. Life is crap, but Supernatural is AMAZING.
